Bedroom Progress... all the details
Remember when a while ago my sister asked me to help her re-do her room, well we have made a lot of progress...
We finished the bookshelves and her desk area. We are still waiting for some fabric to recover her reading chair and desk stool. Soon the room will be re-done. We are thinking about making a fabric headboard, we just have to get all the measurements done first!
head over here and here to see the before's and stay tuned as I reveal her room piece by piece...

ART work
As most of you regular readers know my sister Patti is an artist. Our house is full of her pieces and almost every month we switch out some of them with the most current and newest works she's done. Here is a piece that has won her some awards and prestigious mentions in her University's papers as well as being selected to hang in a downtown gallery. It will be replaced (sadly) in a week's time when it goes off to the gallery for one year...so all I can do is enjoy it for now. Interesting fact, my sister is also studying to become a doctor so all of her art features medical subtext and inspirations. Her painting below is actually a zoomed version of an iris (someone's eye) and her print is actually a cross section and zoomed view of blood cells.
She also does prints as well (last picture shown). Can you tell I am a very proud sister!

If anyone likes Patti's work you can commission her to do a custom piece for you or pick from her portfolio of work. Just email me.

I have a few more pictures of my sis' room or more correctly her desk nook. We added some Ikea shelves, a Bombay desk, some vintage and antique accessories and lots of books. The corkboard is from Ikea as well. It was just plain so I printed out a picture that Stefanie over at Brooklyn Limestone put up on her site for free download and thought it would look cute on top of the cork; then I also trimmed the inner edges with some chocolate grosgrain ribbon... I love how it turned out. The room still needs a few personal touches, it's not quite done but I wanted to share what it looks like so far. Enjoy!
True Blue Birthday
My sister just had her Birthday on Friday and we had a small get together at our house. I decided I would put together a little decor with all my lovely paper products.
I got to work on a Birthday banner, cupcakes and toppers, a wintery branch centre piece and monogrammed treat bags for the guests to take home. I also put together a small bar area, I used my chalkboard frames to write the signature cocktail on, and I got these great rock candy stir sticks (from HomeSense) for the drinks. It was a great night, lots of fun, laughter and food! Happy Birthday to my wonderful sister Patti!!
