Thrift Store Dishes

I wanted to make a few more cake stands so I decided to check some of my favourite Toronto Thrift shops to see if I could find some real beauties, and I think I did! I love all the delicate pretty details in these plates and dishes and I can't wait to put them together with the bases, stay tuned for the reveals.

Books

I gradutaed from University with a specialist degree in English, so I have had to read a lot of books over the years. I am in love with the english language and have always been an avid reader for as long as I could remember. My collection in quite extensive, especially my english literature books. I have so many books that I actually ran out of places to put them all, so I have some stored in the basement "storage room" (really a room to store junk) but no matter how much space I run out of I still have this horrible habit of buying more books.

Seriously, it is so hard for me to walk away from a great book. Forget Chapters, I have had to forego visiting in person because I end up putting quite a dent in my wallet, although I have just started ordering from them online. I also love to thrift shop and I find a great number of my most beloved books from second hand shops around the city. I picked up a few things from my neighbourhood Value Village and received some of my online Chapters orders in the mail...take a look.

great coffee table reads

cute second hand books, look what I found when I removed the book jacket...

lovely dinner bell in antique brass

a personal fav, my vintage copy of my favourite Shakespearean play Romeo & Juliet, plus my new candelabra that says made in Italy

For those of you who love books as much as I do, I want to recommend a little store on the Danforth called Re:Reading where I am sure you will find some great books, they have a vast collection and a section of rare and collectibles. You can also take a load off and sit in their comfy couches at the front of the store to do a little what else... reading!

I wanted to share with everyone the great new jars I found at my local thrift store. They were super cheap and made in Canada (bonus), and I can't wait to show you all what they look like filled with flowers or a cute votive candle...I'll be back soon, thanks for sticking around :)

Enjoy ...

Thrift Store Finds & my 200th post!

First let me just mention that this is my 200th post here on WALLPAPER! Very exciting when I logged in and just noticed that. I hope for another 200 soon...slowly but surely.

I wanted to show everyone my other finds at my neighbourhood Thrift store. I had seen a few bloggers like Holly over at Life in the Fun Lane make their own pedestals and cake stands from candle holders and vintage plates. So while I was browsing the thrift store aisles I saw candle stands and gold rimmed plates and got inspired.

I haven't decided yet if I am going to spray the bases or keep them glass what do you all think SPRAY or STAY?

I will have the reveal soon, so keep checking back. Here are the raw materials for this DIY.

Office Accessories: 99 cent find

You have to love going to thrift stores and finding little treasures. Here is my latest find, a black and clear glass jar with lid, and I think it is just too cute for words. You can house office supplies like erasers, paper clips or like me push pins for my corkboard inspiration and idea board.

Stay tuned to see what else I found on my visit plus more backyard and deck updates...

New stuff

Remember a couple of posts back when I mentioned how much I loved the Pier 1 napkin rings in the hammered silver colour...well guess what I bought 6 of them! I love them. I also found a really neat old decanter at my local thrift store and I decided to buy some glass rocks and fill it, now it looks worthy enough to put in my home.

Pretty happy with myself right now.
